Antonio Mattei Biscotti di Prato - 250g
We were the first store stateside to import these Tuscan biscotti. When they were put on the shelves, we had no idea how many of our customers would recognize them. Our first shipment sold out in days.
These are hand-made by Francesco Pandolfini and family in Prato, Italy, just as they have been for generations. We were amazed at how much product comes out of the small storefront, and everything from the shaping of the dough to the tying of the ribbon is done by hand.
Small and blissfully simple, these are the real thing. Made of sugar, flour, eggs, pine nuts and almonds. Very addictive, great with Vin Santo or a cup of espresso.
|Country of Origin||Italy|
Antonio Mattei has been making biscotti in the same shop in the town of Prato since 1858. We paid a trip to their shop in 1995. They use their original recipe that has been handed down from generation to generation with respect for the tradition and artistry involved.
