Formaggio Kitchen has been an institution in Cambridge, Massachusetts for over 40 years–“a gourmand’s paradise” doubling as a neighborhood grocer. Nationally, we are best known for our cheese selection, which includes many exclusive items imported directly from farms in Europe. Locally, we are equally well known for our kitchen and bakery production including sandwiches, panini and nightly dinners as well as cakes, cookies and a variety of other sweets – all made in house, from scratch and using the best (often local) ingredients. We also stock a wide range of other delicious foodstuffs, including: charcuterie, produce, baked goods, prepared foods, coffee, tea, chocolates, bread, sweets, honey, preserves, wine, beer, olive oil, vinegar and other pantry staples.

CATERING MANAGER

Are you an experienced kitchen leader looking for daytime hours? Join Formaggio Kitchen's catering team! Our catering team produces beautifully arranged platters and food made from our internationally-sourced specialty ingredients, and locally sourced produce and meats. From bountiful cheese platters to hors d’oeuvres, to baked lasagna and desserts, we aim to provide our customers with an exceptional culinary experience!

Daily tasks will include all aspects of catering operations including production, ingredient and supply stock management, and running the kitchen in accordance with all health, safety and food handling regulations. This position works closely with the Catering Administrator, who will assist the Catering Manager with customer service and order processing, planning and developing menus to increase sales, strategizing and executing holiday menus, maintaining retail product inventory, and accommodating requests for special diets and nutritional needs.

The most important requirements for success in this role are:

  • Demonstrated culinary skills with a minimum of 2 years experience in the field
  • Strong sense of urgency and organization
  • Capacity to effectively manage the catering team
  • Comfort using various platforms for receiving orders, organizing deliveries, and Google Suite for company-wide communication
  • Exemplary customer service
  • Great problem solving skills and ability to think on their feet
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • ServSafe and allergy certification is a plus

COMPENSATION: This position is salaried, varies DOE, $55,000-65,000
