Producer Spotlight: Mosto Ardente

This quarter we’re highlighting one of our newest mustard producers: Mosto Ardente. Mosto Ardente was started by Elisa and Paolo Artusio in 2020 on Paolo's family farm, in Castellino Tanaro, Piedmont, Italy. They grow their own white mustard seed (a major rarity in the industry), as well as the jalapeños for their chili mustard, and integrate the wines from their region (which the Langhe is much better known for) to make their uniquely Italian mustards. These mustards have a denser paste than you might be used to, even from other stone-ground mustards, and they are packed with flavor.

Mustard with Langhe White Wine

This Italian mustard is made with white wine from the Langhe region of the Piedmont of Italy, giving it a lovely aroma and complex flavor.

Mustard with Honey

Mosto Ardente takes their Langhe white wine mustard base and sweetens it with honey, creating a mustard with a sweet and spicy flavor.

Mustard with Herbs

Mosto Ardente takes their Langhe white wine mustard base and adds in a flavorful mix of herbs: sage, thyme, marjoram, rosemary, and bay leaf, to create a fragrant, earthy mustard.

Mustard with Chili

Mosto Ardente takes their Langhe white wine mustard base and grinds in hot pepper flakes from their own jalapeños they grow on their farm. You get spiciness from the mustard seeds and also from the hot peppers, giving it a complex heat.

FAQs

The membership is $60 per quarter. You can purchase a recurring membership where you will be billed quarterly or pre-pay 1 year which will not renew.

Making changes to your subscription is easy. Just log on to your Formaggio Kitchen account and hit “Manage Subscriptions.” There you will find options to change your delivery address, skip a month, cancel your subscription, and/or update your billing information.

We ship out the quarterly club packages the 2nd Wednesday of the first month of each quarter. While we can’t accommodate a custom ship date, you can skip a shipment by logging into your Formaggio Kitchen account.

Our quarterly club packages ship the 2nd Wednesday of each January, April, July, and October. If you purchase mid-quarter your first shipment will be shipped the following quarter.

Your shipment will arrive the 2nd full week of the 1st month of each quarter.

While we can’t customize what comes in the quarterly selection, as a member you can add whatever products you’d like to take advantage of the free shipping that comes with your membership. Purchase additional items through the club portal and we’ll consolidate it all into one box to be shipped the first full week of the month.

Yes. If you don’t want all your items to be consolidated into one shipment you’ll need to place a separate order. Please note that in order to take advantage of your free shipping as a member all items must be consolidated into the monthly club shipment.

Yes, you can skip a package and/or change your shipping address by logging into your Formaggio Kitchen account.

Mustards have a long shelf life unopened. Once opened, we recommend storing them in the fridge and enjoying within 6 months.

If you’re using our prepaid option you can apply a gift card to your purchase. However, unfortunately, we can’t take gift card payments for our quarterly recurring memberships just yet.

Orders must be placed the Sunday before the 2nd full week of the 1st month of each quarter in order to be added to your shipment.

Yes! You can gift a recurring subscription or pre-pay for a year.
