Formaggio Kitchen Tinned Fish Subscription
Bring the Vast World of Tinned Fish to Your Door Each Month!
Over the 47 years that we've been in business, we've seen the tinned fish category grow from a regional delicacy found mostly in Spain and Portugal to a global business with connoisseurs who appreciate this preserved taste of the sea all over the world. Our tinned fish buyer at Formaggio Kitchen has curated a selection that has something for every tinned fish lover: from staples like really good tuna packed in olive oil to more rare and obscure finds like cod liver. When sourcing tinned fish, we look for producers that practice sustainable fishing as well as ones that work in an artisan fashion, whether that be by using traditional methods, operating at a small scale, or both.
Our Tinned Fish Subscription is perfect for the seafood lover looking to dive into the vast world of tinned delicacies and discover new favorites.

November 2025 Selection
This month we're highlighting a selection of tins from a country with a rich tinned fish tradition: Spain.
Arroyabe Anchovies in Olive Oil
These exquisite anchovies are hand-packed in Spanish olive oil according to traditional methods. Arroyabe sources carefully selected fresh fish harvested off the Cantabrian Coast in the north of Spain.
Arroyabe was started in 1898 by Rufino Arroyabe who began the business by selling fresh fish through a bartering system. Now based in the town of Bermeo, Spain, they focus on canning white tuna and anchovies in olive oil.
Minnow Garfish in Olive Oil
Garfish are small slender fish similar in size to sardines and with a meaty flavor similar to mackerel. These garfish are caught in the Cantabrian Sea off the north coast of Spain in the fall and winter. We like to enjoy them simply, dressed on a plate with lemon, olive oil, and fresh herbs.
Minnow was founded by a group of New York City restaurant owners, who, after opening a tinned fish bar in Manhattan in 2013, were dissatisfied with the quality of tinned fish they could find from distributors at the time. Their mission is to "scour the world for the people preserving the best fish at the height of its freshness and with a deep commitment to sustainability."
Conservas de Cambados White Tuna in Olive Oil
Delicate, moist and flaky, this tin is one of the best presentations of bonito del norte we’ve tried. Harvested by pole & line off the north coast of Galicia, this is a product marked with care through every step of the process.
Conservas de Cambados is both a factory and a label living at the intersection of artisanal quality and culinary tradition. Their iconic packaging, inspired by the seafood nets that dot the Galician coastline, is a visual reminder of the history and care that for decades has made this brand the benchmark for gourmet conserva in Spain.
Matiz Octopus in Olive Oil
This tin contains wild-caught octopi sourced from the Atlantic waters of Spain, Morocco, and Portugal. They are caught and produced the traditional artisan way, which is what makes them so moist, tender, and flavorful. Enjoy with lemon juice in salads. Add to your favorite seafood pasta recipe. Or use to prepare pulpo a la gallega, a Galician-style octopus recipe, by combining it with potatoes and spices.
