Description
Clément Faugier "crème de marrons" is a French classic made of chestnuts, confectionery syrup, sugar, and vanilla. It's an irresistible dessert of its own, but it can as well be eaten on toasts, crêpes, or as a refined side to ice cream. It's also used as an ingredient in various pastry recipes.
Clément Faugier was founded in 1882 by Mr. Clément Faugier in the Ardeche region of France, a region well known for it’s abundance of chestnut trees. The young man had the idea of commercialising this abundant raw material to make on a middling large scale, marrons glaces (candied chestnuts), which had until then not been manufactured on a commercial scale and were only made by local confiseurs.
INGREDIENTS: 50% chestnuts, sugar, candied chestnuts, glucose syrup, Madagascar vanilla extract
