Formaggio Kitchen has been an institution in Cambridge, Massachusetts for over 40 years –“a gourmand’s paradise” doubling as a neighborhood grocer. Nationally, we are best known for our cheese selection, which includes many exclusive items imported directly from farms in Europe. Locally, we are equally well known for our kitchen and bakery production including sandwiches, panini and nightly dinners as well as cakes, cookies and a variety of other sweets – all made in house, from scratch and using the best (often local) ingredients. We also stock a wide range of other delicious foodstuffs, including: charcuterie, produce, baked goods, prepared foods, coffee, tea, chocolates, bread, sweets, honey, preserves, wine, beer, olive oil, vinegar and other pantry staples.

Openings at Huron Village:

Cheese Supervisor

We are looking for a full-time, experienced cheesemonger with supervisory experience to work closely with existing staff to help us provide delicious cheese and exceptional service to our customers. 

As a cheesemonger, you not only have access to 200-300 different types of cheeses (many of them exclusive to us in the US), you also have access to hundreds of other specialty products that have been hand selected by our lead buyers from across the globe. With nearly 50 years of experience in the industry, Formaggio Kitchen has developed close relationships with producers domestically and abroad which allows our cheesemongers unmatched access to their expertise.As a company we encourage staff to take ownership of ideas and initiatives, and we are committed to providing support and resources to allow our staff to achieve their goals. This has included farm visits, access to in-depth product training with producers, development of new programs and marketing initiatives within the store (to name a few). 

A full-time Cheesemonger work schedule requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends. Skills and Experience
  • Prior cheesemonger experience required
  • At least one year in a supervisory or managerial capacity in a specialty food retail or wholesale environment preferred
  • History of providing excellent customer service
  • Exceptional work ethic
  • Equally exceptional skills in working with people of various backgrounds
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Passion for food
  • Drive to learn the extensive selection we have to offer

COMPENSATION: $21-$24/hour, based on experience.

Catering Supervisor - Kendall Square

Are you passionate about food and looking for daytime hours? Join our catering and kitchen team! Our catering team produces beautifully arranged platters and food made from our internationally sourced, specialty ingredients, and locally sourced produce and meats. From bountiful cheese platters to baked lasagnas to decadent desserts, we aim to provide our customers with an exceptional culinary experience. We also regularly create and stock a variety of gourmet sandwiches, salads and ready-to-heat meals for in store customers at our Kendall Square location.

This position will be responsible for working in all aspects of our catering operations and kitchen production including:
  • Working alongside our Catering Manager to create a seamless execution of tasks
  • Preparing catering platters and creating an assortment of fresh salads, sandwiches and soups for a grab-n-go case
  • Assuring delivery orders arrive to the customer on time and with order accuracy 100% of the time
  • Managing walk in cooler organization and maintaining food safety standards
  • Keeping up to date on hand counts of inventory and communicating needs with the appropriate staff to order
  • Assist in purchasing goods needed to execute all kitchen and catering orders
  • Office work focused around Google Suite, Vendor ordering platforms, Dispatch/Logistical Software, and company wide email communication
The most important requirements for success in this role are:
  • Demonstrated culinary skills with a minimum of 2 years experience in the field
  • Demonstrated office and computer skills (Google Suite)
  • Ability to work quickly and with limited direction
  • Capacity to work with a variety of personalities and strengthen the sense of camaraderie and teamwork
  • Creativity and a passion for food
  • ServSafe certification is a plus 
  • Availability for at least one weekend shift and earlier evening hours a must
COMPENSATION: This position is non-exempt hourly, varies with experience, $21-$25.
