Formaggio Kitchen has been an institution in Cambridge, Massachusetts for nearly 50 years –“a gourmand’s paradise” doubling as a neighborhood grocer. Nationally, we are best known for our cheese selection, which includes many exclusive items imported directly from farms in Europe. Cheesemonger
We are looking for a full-time cheesemonger with supervisory experience to work closely with existing staff to help us provide delicious cheese and exceptional service to our customers.
As a Formaggio Kitchen cheesemonger, you not only have access to 200-300 different types of cheeses (many of them exclusive to us in the US), you also have access to hundreds of other specialty products throughout the shop that have been hand selected by our lead buyers from across the globe. With nearly 50 years of experience in the industry, Formaggio Kitchen has developed close relationships with producers domestically and abroad which allows our cheesemongers unmatched access to their expertise. As a company we encourage staff to take ownership of ideas and initiatives, and we are committed to providing support and resources to allow our staff to achieve their goals. This has included farm visits, access to in-depth product training with producers, development of new programs and marketing initiatives within the store (to name a few).
A full-time cheesemonger's work schedule requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends. Butcher
Formaggio Kitchen on Huron Ave. in Cambridge is currently seeking a full-time butcher and meat cutter to join our kitchen team. This individual will join a professional team committed to excellence and consistency within a fast-paced retail setting. Our butcher counter works primarily with whole animals from local farms, so this position is an amazing opportunity to learn whole-animal butchery. Candidates are not expected to have mastered this in prior experience, we are willing to train!
The ideal candidate will have at least one year’s butcher counter experience, but we are also willing to teach the right person. Candidates will possess a strong work ethic and take direction well. Great knife skills, communication skills, and the ability to work cleanly and quickly are a must. Successful candidates will also demonstrate attention to detail and willingness to learn.
