Formaggio Kitchen has been an institution in Cambridge, Massachusetts for over 40 years –“a gourmand’s paradise” doubling as a neighborhood grocer. Nationally, we are best known for our cheese selection, which includes many exclusive items imported directly from farms in Europe. Locally, we are equally well known for our kitchen and bakery production including sandwiches, panini and nightly dinners as well as cakes, cookies and a variety of other sweets – all made in house, from scratch and using the best (often local) ingredients. Current Openings at Huron Village:
Full-time Baker
Responsibilities include:
- Completing bake-off including making breads, doughs, baking croissants and finishing cakes
- Producing our bakery staples such as bread pudding, seasonal crisps, cookies, brownies, granola, and more.
- Collaborating with our head baker with recipe testing and ideas
- Assisting in putting away deliveries
- Helping to maintain a clean and orderly kitchen
- Candidates must have at least one year of high production experience and be able to work independently
- Proficiency with bake-offs, doughs, and finishing products
- Open availability, including weekends and a commitment to a busy holiday production schedule
- A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and positive attitude are a must
- This is a very physically demanding position. Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly.
COMPENSATION: This position is hourly, commensurate with experience, $18.00 - $22.00/hr
Barista / Pastry Counter
Staff are expected to become knowledgeable about our bakery menu and store inventory in order to field an array of customer requests. Key characteristics we are seeking include excellent customer service, thoughtful organization, effective communication, great team spirit, and strong work ethic.

COMPENSATION: This position is hourly, varies depending on experience, $16 - 18/hr

- Open the shop in the morning and/or close the shop at night
- Handle customer complaints, returns, requests
- Recognize what needs to be done/stocked in each part of the store. Compile a list of tasks and delegate
- Understand and enforce store policies
- Be able to react calmly in emergency situations
- Minimum of 2 years of retail or restaurant experience
- Extensive food knowledge and a thirst for learning
- Exemplary customer service
