Nationally, we are best known for our cheese selection, which includes many exclusive items imported directly from farms in Europe. Locally, we are equally well known for our kitchen and bakery production including sandwiches, panini and nightly dinners as well as cakes, cookies and a variety of other sweets – all made in house, from scratch and using the best (often local) ingredients. Front of House Supervisor

Description

Formaggio Kitchen is a unique gourmet food shop in Cambridge. As a Supervisor you will also be required to:

  • Handle customer complaints, returns, requests
  • Recognize what needs to be done/stocked in each part of the store. Compile a list of tasks and delegate.
  • Understand and enforce store policies.
  • Be able to react calmly in emergency situations.
  • Open the shop in the morning and/or close the shop at night.

This is currently a part-time position, with more shifts available in the fall. Applicants must be friendly and hard working. Preference is for full weekend availability.

Kitchen Manager

Description

Formaggio Kitchen is a specialty retail store with a bustling scratch kitchen that makes everything from family-style ready-to-heat meals to delicious dips, dressings and spreads, salads and sandwiches. We are looking for an ambitious candidate to help lead our kitchen production team who puts out food made from our internationally sourced specialty ingredients and locally sourced produce and meats.

Daily duties will include: 

  • Overseeing our production team and ensuring consistency and freshness of product;
  • Creating an assortment of fresh salads for a grab-n-go case;
  • Inventory and re-stock of prepared foods for freezer and cold case;
  • Production of entrees, sauces, and sides for retail freezer case;
  • Ordering and designing product labels.

COMPENSATION: This position is salaried, commensurate with experience, $53,000 - $58,000.

Requirements

 Candidates are required to have:

  • Full weekend availability;
  • Demonstrated culinary skills;
  • Ability to work quickly and with limited direction;
  • Capacity to work with a variety of personalities and strengthen the sense of camaraderie and teamwork; 
  • Creativity and a passion for food.

Preferred candidates will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in the field;

Cheesemonger/Supervisor

We are looking for a full-time, experienced cheesemonger with supervisory experience to work closely with existing staff to help us provide delicious cheese and exceptional service to our customers. 

As a cheesemonger, you not only have access to 200-300 different types of cheeses (many of them exclusive to us in the US), you also have access to hundreds of other specialty products that have been hand selected by our lead buyers from across the globe. With nearly 50 years of experience in the industry, Formaggio Kitchen has developed close relationships with producers domestically and abroad which allows our cheesemongers unmatched access to their expertise. As a company we encourage staff to take ownership of ideas and initiatives, and we are committed to providing support and resources to allow our staff to achieve their goals. 

A full-time Cheesemonger work schedule requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends. Part-Time Social Media Assistant

Formaggio Kitchen is looking for a creative individual with a passion for food, storytelling, and customer service to join our growing marketing team. This is an in-person, part-time position (approx. 18-21 hours per week) based in Cambridge, MA. Candidates must have availability to work shifts on ~3 days per week on days falling between Tuesday-Saturday. 

This role will assist the Marketing and E-Commerce Director with managing Formaggio Kitchen’s social media presence, which includes:

  • Shooting photos and capturing video content (with a store-provided iPhone);
  • Editing photos and videos;
  • Creating graphic design elements for posts ;
  • Scheduling and posting on key social media platforms;
  • Researching trends and generating content ideas; and
  • Coordinating and interacting with on-camera talent 

Preferred candidates will have a:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Proficiency with computers and design programs (Photoshop, Canva), video editing software (Splice, Adobe Premiere Pro), social media scheduling software (Buffer, Meta Business Suite), and Google applications;
  • Experience with photography and videography as well as editing; 
  • Experience with graphic design; 
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and their best practices (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn);
  • Self-driven, strong work ethic;
  • Exceptional customer service;
  • Passion for specialty food and a drive to eat, drink, taste, and learn;
  • Aptitude to be detail-oriented, process work in a timely manner, and meet deadlines;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as work independently;
  • Willingness to accept constructive feedback on content generated; and
  • Desire to contribute creatively to various marketing and media efforts.
