Ames Farm is nationally recognized for producing single-source honey, which we define as raw honey from one location, one hive and one time period. Their honey is all-natural, made in Minnesota by their own honeybees, and possesses no flavor or color additives of any sort.

Each jar of single source honey has the location, hive number and floral source printed on the label, making it unique and specific to a time and place in the state.

From the producers:

"Our Single Source Buckwheat honey has a unique dark amber color, natural earthy aroma and bold flavor notes of plum, tobacco and cherry. The stronger flavors of this naturally flavored buckwheat honey, pair nicely with a goat or blue cheese, or drizzled over a plain yogurt.

This antioxidant rich, raw honey has several potential health benefits beyond clover and other more common honey floral sources. From boosting your immune system to the holistic use as a natural medicine for sore throats and coughs, its always good to have a jar on hand. Other medicinal uses for our buckwheat honey include restorative skin treatments for burns and abrasions.

All of our Single Source Honey is unheated, so its real raw honey and therefore may be crystallized honey in the jar."

The last honey you'll ever need

Buckwheat honey's are not the same. This one from Ames stands out. It's heady, rich, thick, earthy, and bold. I tasted it many years ago at the Mpls farmers market and was immediately hooked. I highly recommend you get this - in the large. It's a conversation piece. Share it with friends and they'll either get it or not. If they don't, unfriend them. We've since moved away from MN, but still come back and the first thing on the list is to pick up this honey or ask visitors to bring it with them. Thanks Ames for your quality honey!
