Salty Oats cookies are made by Teri Horn on Cape Cod, originally as a way to satisfy a craving she had while kayaking These big and hearty cookies are a staff favorite. Their "subtly sweet, curiously salty" flavor is highly addictive.
The oatmeal raisin cookies are made using organic oats and Maldon sea salt. The cocoa cookie is made with organic oats, Valrhona cocoa, Callebaut bittersweet chocolate and Maldon sea salt.
Kayak Cookies
Tim, one of the managers at our Cambridge store got to know Kayak cookies when he was living in Washington DC. At the time, the cookies were baked for a small tea shop in Dupont Circle and they became a regular fix. Following his move to other parts of the country, Tim had a friend mail him a bag of the amazing salty oats (only plain were made at that time).
As luck would have it, Terri Horn, the baker of these delectable treats moved to Cape Cod and soon after started selling to both of our stores. Terri has worked at 21 Federal and Chanticleer on Nantucket, Todd English's Isola on Martha's Vineyard and the nationally acclaimed 1789 in Washington, D.C. for eight years. She has also worked at the Ritz and Le Notre in Paris.
