Despite the slow drag as spring gradually gains ground in the battle to wrest our weather from winter’s claws, we have been fortunate to have a bit of sunshine gracing our shelves. This sunshine comes in the form of produce from the small, organic farms we work with in California.
A delicate, understated Savoie white from Gilles Berlioz, made of 100% Jacquère, is the perfect compliment to one of my favorite aged Sardinian goat’s milk cheeses, Pantaleo. Coupled with some thin slices of exuberantly tart kumquats, I get all the sunshine and scents I need to make it through the deep-freeze of winter.
When you think “Chinese food,” Formaggio Kitchen might not be the first place that comes to mind, but that’s a shame. While it’s true that cheese is still only just starting to make inroads into East Asian cuisines, here at the Cambridge shop we have more than enough products for a Chinese New Year feast.
