Harissa is a red chili paste originally from the Berber people of Tunisia. In the markets there, you can find a multitude of harissa blends based on the personal style of the spice merchant. This harissa is a blend of red chili peppers, tomatoes, garlic, cumin, coriander and caraway. It is a key ingredient in North African cuisine where it is traditionally used in couscous, rubbed on lamb or on grilled vegetables. This particular harissa is not particularly hot and since it is in a tube, it can be used again and again. Once open, we recommend keeping it in your refrigerator.
