Tasmanian pepper is also known as mountain pepper or native pepper and is grown mostly in Tasmania, but also grows in Victoria and New South Wales. Rarely found outside of Australia, we sought these peppercorns our for their unique sweet peppery flavor. These peppercorns are from the Tasmannia lanceolata plant unlike the black, white and green peppercorns which are from the Piper nigrum plant.
The skin of these peppercorns is a wrinkled and softer than what you find on other peppercorns. As such, it may gum up a typical pepper grinder and works best ground with a mortar and pestle. This pepper is packed in a two ounce container.
