Country of Origin: France
Agen prunes are the dried fruit of the Ente plum tree that grows in the Aquitaine region of France. They take their name from the town of Agen, located on the Garonne river, which was an important port for the movement of the dried fruits throughout France and the rest of Europe.
These prunes are name protected by the European Union as I.G.P. (Indicated Geographic Protection) and are strictly regulated for quality throughout the production process.
The prunes have pits but if needed, they can be pitted easily. We love to keep a stash of these prunes on hand for an easy addition to our stews, or roasts.
