While visiting Portugal, we came upon Quinta do Freixo at the SISAB event in Lisbon. We tasted and selected a few of their wonderful jams for import, but what we didn't discover until later was their spiced fig cake!
Unlike any other fig cake we've found, this petite round has a unique interplay of flavors: rich fig flavor creates the delicious backdrop to a blend of crushed almonds and sugary fennel.
A small slice of this moist fig cake pairs nicely with everything from buttery triple cremes to bright, assertive blues.
