Clove (whole)
Considered one of the world's most important spices, cloves are the dried unopened flower bud of the tropical evergreen tree. Used whole or ground in both sweet and savory cooking. Commonly found in Indian cuisine as an ingrediant in the spice mixture, garam masala. Clove is also used to season the broth of Pho in Vietnamese cooking and may be added to cheeses along with cumin in the Netherlands. Clove can be very overpowering, so use sparingly.
