Celery Seed
The seed of wild celery called lovage, mostly found in India. It is used in pickling salads and to flavor soups and meat dishes. Actually very small fruit, these "seeds" yield a valuable volatile oil used in the perfume and pharmaceutical industries.
Celery seeds can be used as flavoring or spice, either as whole seeds or ground and mixed with salt, as celery salt. Celery salt has a variety of uses too, but our favorite has to be as a key ingredient in a good bloody mary.
