Aleppo Pepper
Country of Origin: Syria
More...
Aleppo chile pepper comes to us from northern Syria, near the town of Aleppo, which is considered one of the culinary Meccas of the Mediterranean.
It has a moderate heat level with some fruitiness and mild, cumin-like undertones. Its flavor is similar to the ancho chile, but oilier and slightly salty. It is fairly mild, with its heat building slowly, with a fruity raisin-like flavor.
Use it for authentic chile flavor in any Mediterranean dish, or as a substitute for crushed red pepper or paprika.
