We ship packages out Monday through Friday. The transit times below are for deliveries within the continental United States. The exact delivery time may vary depending on your specific location (if you live on an island or a mountain it might take a bit longer). While rare, inclement weather and other factors beyond the control of either FedEx or Formaggio Kitchen may impact delivery times. If you are shipping out of, into or through an area of the country with bad weather, we recommend considering potential delays when selecting your shipping method.
We offer the following shipping options:
* Ground Service: 1-5 business days delivered by "end of day"
* Express Saver: 3 business days delivered by 7:00pm
* 2 Day: 2 business days delivered by 7:00pm
* Overnight: 1 business day delivered by 4:30pm
* Priority Overnight: 1 business day delivered by 12:00pm
* Priority Overnight with Saturday Delivery: For shipments made on Friday for delivery on Saturday by 12:00am
For perishable products, we may require that your order be shipped using a specific type of service. For most of the year, we require 2day shipping or faster for all perishable products. If the product is very perishable or if the weather is particularly warm, we may require overnight shipping. For information on our return policy see the bottom of this page.
Notes About Our Shipping Schedule
We process our orders Monday through Friday with the exception of holidays. It is our goal to process all orders received before noon Eastern Time on the day the order was placed. For orders placed on Monday or Tuesday before noon, we will pack and ship all packages regardless of selected shipping option. For those orders received after noon on Wednesday with 2 day shipping, the order will be shipped on the following Monday. Similarly, if you've placed your order after noon on Thursday with any service other than overnight or priority overnight, your order will likely be shipped on the following monday. For Friday orders we do offer Priority Overnight with Saturday delivery: if any other shipping method is selected for a Friday order, it will be shipped the following Monday.
Shipping cheese is unlike shipping a bottle of olive oil or a box of cookies, and to insure that it arrives in the same delectable condition it was in when it left us, we take a few simple precautions. We wrap your cheese in our cheese paper and a protective wrap of plastic wrap. We package your cheese in an insulated box with cold packs sufficient to insure that your cheese arrives in the right environment.
Some of our more perishable products may require one of our expedited shipping methods (especially if shipped during warm weather or to a warm destination). If one of these items is in your cart, only the shipping methods that meet your product's shipping requirements will be displayed during the checkout process.
Selecting your Products
We gather the products in your order as soon as possible after recieving your order but not too far in advance of the ship date if your order includes perishable items. If you've ordered a cheese sampler without predefined cheeses, we choose those cheeses that are tasting the best at that time. If you are unfamiliar with buying artisan cheese, please be aware that some of the products we send you will have a variety of molds growing on the rind. We find that these molds add character to the cheese in terms of looks, texture and taste. If you happen to be put off by the rind, cut it off or simply don't eat it - enjoy the heart of the cheese or l'âme (the soul) as the French would say.
If you've ordered a weighed item from us such as cheese or meat, please note that we hand-cut to your order and as a result there will often be some variation in weight - some pieces might be a bit under the weight you ordered and others might be a bit over - we make sure it works out on balance.
We do our best to ensure that you receive our products in excellent condition. If, for some reason you are dissatisfied with what you received, please contact us as soon as possible so that we may address the problem. If the products of concern are perishable, you must contact us within 24 hours of receiving the product so that we may take what action is necessary to begin the replacement process. If your product is damaged upon receipt, we will likely request detailed information regarding the type of damage and a photograph of the damaged item(s) for our records.
While we work very hard to make sure you get your order according to your requested delivery time, we cannot take responsibility for a few situations:
* If the package is delayed due to weather or other "Acts of God"
* If the order submitted has an incorrect address
* If a package is not deliverable because a signature confirmation is requested but the recipient is not available.
* If an intended recipient is not at home when the package is delivered.
* If a package containing perishable items is delivered on time but is not opened upon receipt.
