Tastings and Events - Formaggio Kitchen Cambridge

Cambridge Tastings and Events

We regularly welcome artisan producers to our store to sample out their delicious goodies – from cheese, to ice cream, to beer, to wine, to tea – and more! We also periodically host cookbook signings. And, Patti of On the Edge Knife Sharpening joins us generally once per month to tune-up folks’ knives.

A schedule of these events is below, and reservations are not necessary. If you are interested in events at our Boston store, please view the South End Tastings and Events page.

Please note that during wine tastings, customers are welcome to a 15% discount on cases of featured wines. For any events involving tastings of beer or wine, we validate legal age of our participants.

Be the first to know about our upcoming tastings by subscribing to our In-Store Tastings e-mail list. Click on the button below and be sure to select In-Store Tastings as an area of interest.

Upcoming Events

Wine Tasting: New Arrivals – Friday May 6, 3-6 pm

If there’s a downside to the mad affairs we carry on with wines from small production/family estates it’s the frequency with which too-quickly exhausted supplies leave us with that seduced and abandoned feeling. How do we deal with the heartbreak? By promptly going in search of fresh romance, of course. Yes, we’ve been sipping around again — wouldn’t you like to know with whom?

  • 2014 Francesca Castaldi “Lucia” Colline Novarese Erbaluce, $27.95
  • 2014 Domaine des Huards Cheverny, $21.95
  • 2014 Francesca Castaldi “Bigin” Colline Novarese Nebbiolo, $27.95
Wine Tasting: Window on Wine and Cheese – Saturday, May 7, 11-4 pm

Tripp and Stephen conspire to present you with a single wine and a single cheese to make your winter table easy and delicious. Our mission statement: Make it simple. Make it perfect!

Gâté Comme des Filles Tasting – Saturday, May 7th, 12-4 pm

This is one you don’t want to miss, especially if you’re looking for the perfect last minute Mother’s Day gift. Join us for a taste of some of the finest chocolate being made, chocolate that just so happens to be coming from the next town over. Alexandra Whisnant hand-crafts her amazing chocolates in Somerville, MA. She’ll be joining us for a demo on Saturday, May 7th, from 12-4pm. Do yourself a favor – stop by to see why we all love her chocolate so much.

Knife Sharpening – Sunday, May 8th, 11 am - 2 pm

Every month, Patti from On the Edge Knife Sharpening pulls up in her van to sharpen your dullest knives. This is not your typical knife sharpening operation – Patti works carefully by hand with each knife from your smallest paring knife to your 18″ chef’s knife (even scissors!).

Shacksbury Cider Tasting – Saturday, May 14th, 1-4 pm

Shacksbury Cider will be in the house for a tasting of their ciders. Shacksbury are one of the most original and accomplished producer/importers out there. Their combination of partnerships with established producers of traditional styles from abroad (notably English farmhouse and Basque) and in-house production of ciders using apple varietals thought to have become extinct or been lost from cultivation makes them unique, even within the current cider boom. Join us on Saturday, May 14th from 1-4pm, for a taste of their fantastic ciders that pair perfectly with cheese.

Little Belgians and Potter’s Crackers Tasting – Saturday, June 11th, 12-2 pm

Please join us at the Cambridge shop for a tasting of two of our favorite baked goods: Little Belgians’ cookies and Potter’s Crackers. One is sweet, the other is savory, and both are delicious. Come and taste them yourself on Saturday, June 11 from 12-2pm.
